All eyes are on Alaska today, where a historic meeting is taking place between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The summit aims to address the war in Ukraine, with expectations running high. Putin praised Trump’s “sincere efforts for peace” and hinted that nuclear weapons might be part of the discussion.
Trump urged caution, telling Fox News Radio there’s “only a 25% chance the meeting will succeed.” He noted that a ceasefire is unlikely today but hopes to set up a second meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders.
Meanwhile, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer met Zelensky in London on Thursday, saying “Putin must prove he’s serious about peace.”
European leaders are closely watching a summit that could shape the course of the war.
